This convoluted bellow has a diameter of almost 1.000mm and a stroke of 350mm. In the below picture it can be seen the size difference between the 4”1/2 x 2-cylinder bellow and the M-140-3 bellow actuator.
This big bellow air spring is able to make 290KN strength at its maximum height and 400KN at its minimum height. It is obviously a good solution for those applications where there is a high strength requirement. Nevertheless, we have to take into consideration its dimension, to make sure that we have enough space to mount this bellow cylinder in the application.
This particular cylinder bellow is mostly used as an actuator spring, working as a pneumatic cylinder. Nonetheless, this product does not require maintenance and lubrication as in case of conventional pneumatic cylinders, just a regular inspection is sufficient to ensure the bellow’s correct performance and the safety of the equipment. It has to be taken into account that this bellow cylinder, can also be used as a vibration isolator and shock impact isolator.
One of the main key components of the cylinder bellows are the high resistance or stainless steel (AISI-304 or AISI-316) bead rings, enabling the air spring to have a very strong and fixed connection to the machine or application and preventing it from corrosion.
