Even though, the coupling was working correctly, the elastic elements were replaced more than once in a year and after the flexible component was broken, there was a risk of metal-to-metal contact, which might have entailed possible damages in the installation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, changing the replacements involved important maintenance costs and time, as it was necessary to move both, the motor side and transmitted side. Moreover, we must to outline the way this coupling <strong>protects the transmission when there is a break,<\/strong> as we only need to replace the elastic element and re-tighten the bolts to continue with the operation. Furthermore, the other mechanical elements are not affected and there is practically no need to remove any element of the bench, avoiding important maintenance costs and time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Consequently, even though the cost of acquisition of the tire coupling might be higher than other elastic couplings, cost savings in a medium\/long-term period of time are important, taking into account that tyre elements are able to survive for years and replacement operations are made immediately, without the need of moving the bench or other components of the transmission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The case study has been carried out in a pump installation, where a flexible coupling with polyurethane element was being used in the application.
